Join the National Society of Medicine to engage with an independent community of clinicians, scientists, and health leaders dedicated to advancing rigorous evidence, strengthening health systems, and serving the public good.
Student Member
Student Members are individuals enrolled in accredited programs in medicine, public health, nursing, or related health sciences who seek early exposure to NSM’s scientific, educational, and professional activities under appropriate supervision.
Trainee Member
Trainee Members are residents, clinical fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and other early-stage professionals in formal training pathways who are developing independent clinical, scientific, or policy careers in medicine and the health sciences.
Member
Members are physicians, scientists, and health professionals who have completed formal training and hold independent responsibility for clinical care, research, education, or health policy, and who demonstrate adherence to NSM’s standards of scientific rigor and professional ethics.
Senior Member
Senior Members are experienced clinicians, investigators, or health leaders—typically with a sustained record of at least ten years of professional practice—whose contributions to medicine, health systems, or public health demonstrate recognized excellence, leadership, and impact at institutional, national, or international levels.
Fellow
Fellows of the National Society of Medicine (FNSM) are elected by their peers in recognition of outstanding and sustained contributions that have materially advanced medical science, clinical practice, health systems performance, or population health. Fellowship is conferred through a rigorous, evidence-based review process and is limited to a small proportion of the total membership.
Distinguished Fellow
Distinguished Fellows of the National Society of Medicine represent the highest level of recognition conferred by NSM upon individuals whose visionary leadership, seminal scholarship, or transformative system-level achievements have had enduring global impact on medicine and health. This honor is reserved for an exceptionally limited number of Fellows whose contributions redefine standards of excellence for the field.
